President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday promised Nollywood stakeholders more money if he is re-elected into power on March 28, 2015. administration be voted back into power.

He made this bold promise at “The Showbiz Interactive” session which he held with stakeholders in the showbiz sector at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

At the event which was anchored by veteran actor Richard Mofe Damijo, the president while responding to a question about whether Nollywood can expect further funding from the Federal Government, President Jonathan said, “Definitely, if we must make the industry big, and of course, I’ve seen the potential in it. We’re talking about contributing 1.45 per cent to the GDP. Before, it was zero. So, we know there are potentials in the industry. The first three billion (Naira) was experimental. Now, we feel that it is quite successful. But, surely, we’ll do better.”

President Jonathan’s administration, it will be recalled, has given Nollywood practitioners an initial N3b Project ACT Nollywood grant.
