A retrospective detail analysis and purpose of the historic visit of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon to Nigeria four days ago, can to my mind be summarised as captured above!
The no nonsense UN secretary General ‘pleaded’ for an unconditional release of the over 200 girls abducted in their school in Chibok, Borno State last year and other abductees of the Boko Haram sect.
The audacious south Korean born Secretary General of United Nations made this conscious appeal while addressing the elite and Government stakeholders in the state house in Abuja, the seat of power.
He also requested for a wakeup call of all our “sleeping” Nigerian leaders who are in the corridors of power.
According to our source who corroborated the above, the UN secretary General said this, uwhile addressing the State House correspondents shortly after having a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of the activities lined up for his two-day visit to the country.
His call commemorated with the week the girls will be spending their 500th day in captivity in the hands of the dare devils, the ” Boko Boys”
He, however commended president Buhari who he said had embarked on an agenda for change in which he (PMB) had placed security and anti-corruption war in his highest scale of preference.
Furthermore, Ban ki moon promised UN support for the President’s agenda, asserting that “When you change Nigeria, you have also changed Africa.”
Buhari on his part thanked Ban Ki-Moon for extending an invitation to him to attend the forthcoming UN General Assembly conference which will be held in New York on September 27 through to the 28th, 2015.
