It has been reliably garnered that the price of Water Leaf, a staple consumable in Cross River State and its environs is set to experience a hike as a result of the resolution of market women who trade in the product to initiate a hike.

Information available to Negroid Haven indicates that the traders will actualise the hike of the price tag by initially faking a scarcity of the product between February 25 through 1st March, beyond which they will cause the increase from the present 10 Naira per wrap to 50 Naira per wrap -that is, a 400% increments.

One of the reasons cited for the hike is the unprecedented high exchange rate the Naira is facing against the Dollar. When our correspondent contacted one Agbor Bassey, a resident who stay close to the farms along Nyanasang/Atimbo area, he affirmed that 'Sure, by Monday they plan to sell for #50 per rap. I stay very close to their farms'.
