SUG ELECTIONS: UNICAL Students Elect a New SUG President; Comr. E. Onun Disqualified

Friday 29 April 2016 witnessed the elections into Executive Offices of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the University of Calabar, Calabar for the 2015/2016 Academic session.

According to results announced by the Calabar University Electoral Commission (CUECO) in the evening, the following candidates were announced as winners of the following offices:

1. President: Daniel Joseph (Med.Surg)
2. Vice President: Nkpoikana-Abasi Aniefiok (History and International Studies)
3. Secretary General: Isong Eugene (Law)
4. Deputy Secretary General: Bamidele Ikunisi Precious (Linguistics and Communication skills)
4. Financial Secretary: Ezenwa Peace (Social Science Education)
5. Director Of Information: Michael Jacob Ikyar (Linguistics and Communication skills)
6. Director Of Welfare: Emmanuel Peter (Med.Lab Science)
7. Director Of Socials: Ihenacho Victor (Botany)
8. Director Of Sports: David Sunday (Political Science).

Reliable information garnered by Negroid Haven has it that the President-elect Daniel Joseph Eno, popularly called 'Carry me along', clinched on the presidency with a total of 1, 206 votes against Okoi Eugene's 1, 085 votes as well as Ubi Onen's 495 votes. Comrade Endure Onun was disqualified from contesting on the premise that the Senate of the University of Calabar was yet to approve his result, implying that he didn't have a valid GP with which to stand for elections.

Congratulations to President-elect Joseph Daniel Eno and his fellow Elect officials. Do well to 'carry the people along' by standing for their rights and welfare first and foremost Mr. Carry me along!
