The Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr (Mrs) Inyang Asibong lauds Cross River State House of Assembly for the passage of Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme Agency bill into law.

Dr Asibong commended the lawmakers under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt Hon John Gaul Lebo and Hon (Dr) Ekpo Bassey, Chairman, House Committee on Health for giving prompt action to the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme Agency bill.

The Commissioner said "This bill is the initiative of His Excellency, Senator Prof Benedict Ayade under the Ministry of Health, sponsored by our own, Hon (Dr) Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, we commend our lawmakers under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt Hon John Gaul Lebo, this is to show that the house is in tandem with numerous health policies of the state aimed at making Cross Riverians healthy."

The bill if granted assent by the State Governor any moment from now will :
*Improve statistical data, financial security and prompt health care to Cross River residents.
*It would allow the state to achieve the universal Health coverage and meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target.
*The bill is expected to assist the Government meet its policy of free health services for the vulnerable mostly children, pregnant women and the aged.
*The bill covers all employees in the public and private sectors and also providing health care insurance to certain class of people who are actually deprived.
*The bill will set standards for rendering health services in the state and other matters connected there with.
