Real Madrid has taken advantage of the slip by League Champions Barcelona, who had a goalless home draw with Malaga. Despite Malaga been shown two red cards the Catalonia's couldn't break the baboon walls of the visitors.
Real Madrid played away to arch rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vincente Calderon. And it was World's best Crristiano Ronaldo who stole the show for the night.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a deflected free-kick midway through the first half in the 23 minutes on Saturday evening, then went further to double the lead the away from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining, in the second half.
He completed his hat-trick just six minutes later, in the 77th minute, – calmly slotting home from close range to move Real four points clear at the top of the La Liga table.
