Yesterday, 11 November the Cross River State Government commissioned for the second time the Cross River State Green Police Volunteers whom he had rcommissioned on 29 May 2016.

According to a source, the Ayade's Green Police is 'to enforce the clean and green status of the state as well as protect, nurture and rebuild the lost greens from our environment'.

This recommissioning has incited reactions from critics of the government who are challenging the recommissioning. For instance, Inyali Peter, a journalist has queried thus:

'Why is Governor Ben Ayade repeating everything he was reported to have done? On the 29th of May this year, Ayade was said to have inaugurated the Green Police where he was fully kitted in the organization's uniform. He is reinaugurate the green police… Which one do we believe now? It's either Ayade and his media team are lying to us or they have exhausted the lies they have packaged to tell us hence, the repetition'.

However, NegroidHaven in an interview with Hon. Jones Eteng Williams of Yakurr II State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Finance, garnered that the unreviewed Appropriation Law of 2016 christened Budget of Deep Vision did not capture the Green Police. He informed that the supplementary budget would take care of that. Even, at that, did that require a recommissioning exercise?

It seems to me that there is either an institutional memory gap in this administration, crass irresponsibility of executive showmanship or inordinate crave for unnecessary spending by the present state government.

Congratulations to the officers of the Green Police.
