Yakurr-born leading public policy analyst, environmental rights activist, whistle blower and most vocal mouthpiece of the state opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Mr. Ifere Paul, has stated that should the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Mr Ben Ayade, defect to the APC from the state ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it’s been rumoured, then he will exit the APC.
Mr Paul made this known via his social media account yesterday in reaction to the thread made by Mr Anthony Bissong Attah, the Leader of the Young Democratic Party in Cross River State when the later asked what the fate of the trio of Joseph Odok, Ifere Paul and Chief Okoi Obono-Obla would be in the APC. Mr Attah particularly asked if these critical opposition members would remain in the APC to criticise the anticipated new entrant or they would take a bow.

In Mr Attah’s exact words, ‘If the news making the rounds about His Excellency, Governor Benedict Ayade decamping to the APC becomes a reality, I wonder what will happen to my friends Ifere Paul, Barr. Joe Odok, Chief Okoi Obono-obla et al.
‘Will they leave the party and continue criticizing Ayade on the other side or welcome him as a new convert to the celestial body of the APC?’, he queried.
In reaction, Mr Paul swiftly responded thus: ‘I’m exiting the APC if that is made true. Trust me, I have nothing to lose.’
It should be noted that it’s currently being rumoured that His Excellency the incumbent Governor of Cross River State is planning an exit from the PDP to the APC whether or not the 9th December 2016 Supreme Court definitive judgment in the ongoing Joe Agi SAN Vs CRS PDP with Governor Ben Ayade as third respondent is in his favour or not. Some members of the APC are obviously not comfortable with this move by Gov. Ayade citing that he can’t successfully scale through even a primary in the PDP. Why then welcome such a bad market into the APC? is their bone of contention. NegroidHaven will get to the root of this rumour.
