It is a thing of pity that Calabar the Cross River State capital is still very unsafe even as we anticipate the Carnival Calabar tomorrow.

I read on Punch Newspaper of the attack of popular music star, Kiss Daniel at the Calabar Christmas village last night by robbers.

It is most unfortunate that the incident happened at a time when visitors are expected to throng the city for the largest party in Africa.

I had repeatedly called on the Cross River State government to beef up security in the state ahead of the Carnival Calabar but it seems it fell on deaf ears.

With the recent attack of Kiss Daniel, it has put the state in bad light. It is most unfortunate, heartbreaking, disheartening and very painful that Calabar which was once the most peaceful city in Nigeria is now a breeding place for robbers and miscreants.

While regret I this sad incident, I call on the Cross River State government and relevant security agencies in the state to immediately beef up security across the city and its environs ahead of the carnival celebration.
