The Honourable Member representing Ogoja State Constituency at the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr Peter Odey, yesterday 23rd December doled out cash and food items to members of his immediate constituency NegroidHaven can authoritatively inform.
Information has it that ten bags of Rice and the financial package of one million Naira (N1, 000, 000) were given to ten wards. There was another monetary gift of N100, 000 to students group. The dance group wasn’t left out as they carted home with N50, 000.

The event which was attended by political bigwigs in the state from Ogoja had Hon. Paul Adinyen, chapter Chairman PDP Ogoja, Barr Joe Abang Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the Cross River, Barr Tony Adinyen, State Deputy Legal Adviser of the PDP and Mr Emmanuel Otu Community Relations Officer, Ogoja

Hon. Paul Adinyen the chapter Chairman thanked Honourable Odey for his kind gesture and encouraged him to keep coming back home to reach out to his people assuring him that they will never turn their back on him. On his part, the Honourable Commissioner for Justice Barr. Abang appreciated Hon. Odey for demonstrating love to his people during this year’s this yuletide, he also congratulated the people for keeping faith with and supporting governor Ayade through to the Supreme Court judgment.
Speaking while presenting the gifts item, Hon Odey thanked the people for entrusting him with their mandate and promised never to forget them:

‘I thank you so much for believing in me and trusting me with something as vital as your mandate. Let me assure you that I can never forget you people, it is not that I have enough but I care enough for all of you and want to make sure nobody celebrates the yuletide in hunger. That’s why no matter how challenging times are, I had to squeeze myself to make sure I reach out to you.
‘I beg you in the name of God, the purpose of my sacrifices will be defeated if you collect this monies and food item and share it here in town without taking it to your various wards. That’s definitely not the aim of this gesture, I will hand over the stuffs to all the ward chairmen, I will stroll round all the wards to eat from the rice our mother’s will prepare’, he concluded.
He encouraged the people to stay out of trouble and have a funfilled Christmas while inviting them to join him at the Aya Beach Christmas Party.
Speaking on behalf of the ward Chairmen, Mr Peter Adi and Poza Richard congratulated Hon. Odey and thanked him for remembering them. Mr Adi said, ‘We want to particularly appreciate this profound gesture of love during this season. Indeed, your gift reminds me of your campaign mantra, the New Deal. I must confess that Ogoja has not had it in this fashion for awhile. God bless you’.

On his part, Richard assured thus, ‘This gift items will reach each member of the ward especially those to whom it was really meant for. Thank you Honourable Odey’.
Other members of the constituency who were present at the venue of the occasion wore smiling faces in acknowledgement of Odey’s gifts.
