I have been reliably informed that the Central Bank of Nigeria Anchor Borrowers Program has been marred by fraud. It is alleged that all the Bank of Agriculture branches in Cross River are disbursing N95,000 to farmers instead of N250,000 but forced them to sign for N250,000.

It is alleged that this wicked, malicious, unholy and corrupt practice is perpetrated in connivance with the Cross River state government which is the anchor for the program.

It is appalling how the federal government has continued to fall into the antics of Cross River government officials. From N-Power to 5000 stipend and now anchor borrowers program.

In Anambra, farmers were allowed to be the anchor and we have seen the huge success the state have recorded over the past few months in rice production. Why can't our government be transparent and accountable for once?

I have spoken with some beneficiaries who have confirmed that they got N95,000 but were forced to sign for N250,000.

The fertilizers which they initially said was given at a subsidized rate like Kebbi and other states is now going for N7,500 against the market value of N6,000.

Recall that I have raised alarm that the state Government have hijacked the scheme and politicize the selection process.

This barbaric act perpetrated by the Bank of Agriculture in connivance with Cross River state government must be squarely fought against by the federal government and the Presidential Committee handling the scheme.
