Blues Moves Ahead Of Gunners In Pursuit Of Ricardo Rodriguez

North London side Arsenal are vying for the opportunity of securing the services of Wolfsburg left back Ricardo Rodriguez, after uncertainty over the future of Kieran Gibbs'.

Kieran Gibbs' is yet to sign a new contract whose current deal expires at the end of the season, and Arsene Wenger has seen the Switzerland international as a suitable replacement for Gibbs'. But no formal approach has been made yet from Arsenal, exposing the weaknesses of Arsene Wenger once more of not been proactive in the pursuit of players.

Not withstanding, their London rivals Chelsea according to the 'Sun'  has moved ahead of Arsenal in other to lure Ricardo to the Bridge. It has been reported that Antonio Conte is a fan of Ricardo and tried to sign him at the beginning of the season, but proved futile. The report also said Chelsea has spoken to the player's agent and talks are still ongoing for a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Any move away from Wolfsburg would cost Chelsea £21m to secure the services of the Swiss international whose current runs till 2019.

It is reported that Chelsea boss wants to provide a healthy competition for Marcos Alonso whose defensive frailties hasn't gone unnoticed this season, but has been regularly covered up by captain Gary Cahill at left back each time he fails he defensive duties.
