Nelson A.Osuala [11 January 2017] A secondary school male student, aged 15 has been charged for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl in a lagos suburb. The accused who resides with his parents at Adeyemi Makinde Street, Alagbado- Lagos was brought before the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Laying credence to Vanguard, the Prosecutor Simeon Inuoha told the court that the offence was committed on Dec.19 at theĀ  residence of the accused. The accused was said to have cajoled the little girl and lured her into the bathroom before abusing her sexually. Simeon contended that ,
“It was the cry of the girl that attracted her brother, who caught the accused in the very act.” 'Constitutionally therefore, this offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the offence and was granted a N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. Chief Magistrate B.O. Osunsanmi, who gave the ruling, also ordered the student to be remanded in the Boys’ Correctional Centre at Oregun, Lagos, until the bail conditions were met. She adjourned the case to Jan.25 pending advice form the State Director of Public Prosecutions'. Comments: We cannot stop but wonder what in the world, our planet has become! Why would someone in his right senses be so debased as to commit such atrocity, such decadence? What is the logic behind such irrational and immoral act? Wait a minute, do you think the judged ruled the case satisfactorily? Is it not the case that the law itself seems to have become too mild even in such cases of heinous crimes as this? What is your take? Nelson A.Osuala
