Cristiano Ronaldo Has Overcome The Nemesis Of Lionel Messi Been Awarded The Fifa’s Best Player Award

The controversial end of the reign of former Fifa President Sepp Blatter over bribery and corruption, has seen football ceremonies and activities regulated. First, a deliberation of increasing the number of teams involved in World Cup was increased from 32 teams to 48 teams and has been approved, and will take effect starting with 2022 World Cup.

Fifa also have introduced the 'Fifa's Best Player Football Awards' after splitting with France Football magazine, which meant they had to end their association with the Ballon d'Or award.

The association between Fifa and France Football started in 2010 when the 'World Player of the Year' award was paired with France Football's Golden Ball. That award is still being run by France Football and was won by Ronaldo for the fourth time in 2016.

It was the same three players that was shortlisted for Ballon D' Or that were still shortlisted for 'Fifa's Best Player Award', Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezman and Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo clinched the award after picking up Ballon D' Or last year December for the fourth time after a phenomenal year for both club and country. 

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a total of 59 goals for both club and country as he guided both Real Madrid and Portugal to major honours last year, winning both the Champions League and European Cup.

After clinching the award which was hosted in Zurich last night, Ronaldo spoke as he expressed his feelings.

"It's a great feeling, as I mentioned many times last year was a dream year, no doubt about that," the striker said at the ceremony shortly before receiving the prize.

"Real Madrid win the Champions League and the national team won the Euros for the first time in history. Unbelievable season. I'm so proud and happy.

"I have to say thank you to my team-mates of Real Madrid, and team-mates of Portugal and the coaches. It was an amazing year."

The voting process comprises of two part process in a 50-50 split.The men's and women's player and coach awards was decided by a two-part process in a 50-50 split.

The captains and head coaches of all the world's national teams count for 50 per cent of the result and the other 50 per cent was made up of votes from 200 football journalists and an online public ballot.

While 25% was decided by football fans World wide via Fifa's website.

The FIFPro World XI was dominated by Spanish clubs, with Real Madrid and Barcelona players took the large numbers nine out of eleven, and the other two players are from Juventus and Bayern Munich in the persons of Dani Alves and Manuel Neuer.

Leicester City's coach Claudio Ranieri, after a phenomenal season with Leicester City with a surprise winning of the Premier League, after his team was promoted from Division two. He was awarded the Fifa's Best Coach for the year.
