The energetic and workaholic midfielder Dimitri Payet, has been a bane in the West-Ham's  team after refusing to play for the club since early January as he demanded for a move out from the Hammers.

Despite signing a contract extension with the club last season, Payet has seen his future away from Hammers and his playing career returning to France an ideal move. And he has successfully done so by forcing his way out back to France.

Olympique Marseille President Jacques-Henri Eyraud moved swiftly to take advantage for the unsettled midfielder situation, and expressed delight in thr mid fielder's  decision not only to join them but to take a pay-cut in order to secure the move away from West-Ham.

Eyraud speaking about the successful move said; they handed Payet a long-term deal as they want to build the club's profile around the Frenchman.

He further explained: "Dimitri coming here had to accept a significant decrease in his salary. French football suffers from a lack of competitiveness and he made this gesture in a sign of his attachment to OM but also to remain disciplined financially.

"But I will not comment more on the amount of the transfer, West Ham has already done so.

"Why a contract of four and a half years? The project is long term. Dimitri Payet is in the lead. And we would of course be delighted if Dimitri finishes his career at OM. Knowing that he still has many good years ahead of him."
