As the Armed Forces Remembrance Week celebrations came to a conclusion yesterday with the wreath laying ceremony, the Cross River State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu who represented the governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, has called on the Federal Government to support the widows and orphans of the fallen heroes through the creation of special scholarships as he showered praises on the fallen heroes and also expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their sacrifices, not leaving out the ones still on the battlefield.

In the same vein, the Cross River State Government partnered with the Nigerian Armed Forces to carry out a medical outreach in honor of the fallen heroes. “It is not enough to have this weeklong celebration without doing something from the medical perspective. These brave men and women gave their yesterday for us to enjoy the peace and tranquility of today".

"The governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, last year made donations running into millions and this year he did the same, and this shows it’s a continuous process for him and the State. The Cross River State Government partnered with the Nigerian Armed Forces to this course by organizing this medical outreach to further show our gratitude as a State for their gallantry. There’s no better way as medical personnel for us to show our love and express our gratitude for their gallantry”, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong said while speaking to newsmen after the laying of the wreath at the millennium park, Calabar the state capital.
