The notice of the Office of the Director General of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority has been drawn to the ongoing crisis between the peoples of Ikot Offiong in Cross River state and Itu in Akwa Ibom state NegroidHaven has gathered.
In an interview with NegroidHaven the DG Comrade Kingsley Ita Ikpeme frowned against the belligerence of the two sister warring communities. Ikpeme said there are much better ways of resolving conflicts as he charged the youths to desist from violence irrespective of the provocation.
‘We want to state categorically that there are better ways of conflict resolution. We call on the youths to desist from perpetrating violence.
‘We want to assure the citizenry that security operatives are on top of the situation. Youths should desist from violence as the long arm of the law will catch up with anyone found culpable.’
The DG particularly advised youths in the two warring communities not to allow themselves to be used by power drunk elements in the community to unleash mayhem.
In his words, ‘Cross Riverians are noted for peace and hospitality’, he ended his statement.
