Mikel Obi Set To Turn Down Mega Rich Offer From China As He Holds Down Talks With New Club

John Mikel Obi has been told he can leave Chelsea this season, after falling down the pecking order as he has been considered surplus to. Mikel has a contract that runs through the end of the season and he hasn't been offered any extension yet.

Super eagles captain and midfielder has been humiliated at Chelsea this season, as he hasn't even make up the squad for any of Chelsea's game this season. He is the only member of the team who hasn't make the bench this season for Chelsea. And Mikel admits he was been punished as a result of featuring at the Olympics which he won a Bronze medal for his country Nigeria.

The 29 year old midfielder has potential suitors all around Europe and the World, with the likes of MLS League, mega rich Chinese League, French side Marseille and the host of others to mention. But he obviously prefers a move to La liga and Valencia are in pole position to sign the defensive midfielder.
  
According to report gathered from the Independent; Mikel has agreed to a deal in principle with La Liga outfit Valencia, but the deal could be complicated by financial fair play restrictions. Valencia are obviously in twist over the signing Apparently Mikel and Simone Zaza, but they can afford to sign only one.

Former Valencia coach Cesare Prandelli requested the Spanish outfit to sign Zaza this month, but since his departure things have changed on that front and Valencia are now undecided on which player they should sign.

According to the report, John Obi Mikel has already met with Valencia’s sporting director, Jesus Garcia Pitarch, in London. Both parties are believed to have agreed on the outline details of a move to Mestalla and it will be interesting to see if Valencia decide to push forward with the transfer now. The La Liga side are in need of some reinforcements in the midfield as well as the striking department.

The Nigerian international joined Chelsea in 2006 and has been an important squad player for the Blues. The defensive midfielder has won two Premier League titles, the Champions league, the Europa League, four FA Cup titles, two League Cup titles and the Community shield during his time at Stamford Bridge.
