Cross River foremost Public Affairs Analyst, Prince Thomas Abi Jr. Has barred his mind on the rate of abusive words used on elders in the state via social media NegroidHaven can say.

He made this known through his Facebook page where he called on youths of the state to use the social media as a medium to interact and make friends that share the same ideology with them. The social commentator opined that it's unfortunate and irritating to see young chaps trade abusive words on elders. He cautioned youths that life transcend social media space.

'It is irritating, disgusting, sad and most unfortunate to see young people insult elders on social media all in the name of politics.

'May I remind young people that life goes beyond the social media. That you have an opportunity to interact with someone on the social media does not give you the impetus to abuse the person.

'The social media should be an avenue to interact, make friends, and explore ways how we can succeed as young people'.

Prince Abi also said he has observed that young people in the state now take delight insulting elders instead of using the social media to rise to and not making enemies.

'Over the last few months I have witnessed the rate of aspersion, hate campaign, abusive words rained on our leaders across the state and nation.

'For me, the media especially Facebook, should be a medium to share knowledge, make  friends that share the same ideology with us. Friends that would help us in life and not a place to make enemies. It shouldn't be a platform that is geared towards destroying us but a spring board for our growth".

'The social media should be a platform to rise to the top, share ideas, impact our society and make meaningful contributions'.

It worthy of note that in recent times youths of the state have turned the social media to a war zone where they rant and insult leaders who do not share the same political views with them.
