The Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Gershom Bassey aka Obong Ekpe raises hope of women yesterday, as his donated items worth over seven million and 18 seater bus to women in his constituency.
Presenting the items on his behalf to the beneficiaries, Dr (Mrs) Chioma Gershom Bassey, the wife of the Senator said ‘My husband mean well for the women, mostly those who are the bread winner of the family, mostly the widows and the vulnerable ones, we took time to select those who are really in need of these items, this gesture is giving opportunity to lift people out of poverty, raising people’s incomes to support their families at this period of economic recession’.

Dr Chioma added that the present hardship being experienced in the country also necessitate the empowerment scheme, in order to make the people economically independent.
She urged the beneficiaries to put the items into proper use and also assured that more people would be empowered in the nearest future.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong and Lady Mma Eniang expressed appreciation for the Senator generosity and his commitment in proffering solution of saving lives through empowerment scheme.
Items donated include grinding machines, Generators, dryers, 18-seater Toyota Hiace mini bus for women and, financial assistances to aid business.
