Comfort Literacy Intervention & Capacity Enhancement (CLICE) Foundation yesterday marked the 2017 edition of International Women’s Day at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp, Bakassi, Cross River State NegroidHaven can report.
The ‘Be Bold for Change’ themed international day saw CLICE Foundation deciding to celebrate the with the disadvantaged in society especially those at the Internally Displaced Persons camp. According to Miss Comfort Onyaga Ogon the Founder and Executive Director of CLICE Foundation.
‘It dawned on me that we have IDPs in Cross River State when I was doing a needs assessment of women to celebrate with this international women’s day. I didn’t want to do the usual metropolitan celebration as I feel it was needless I did that not oblivious that bigger organizations would go metropolitan.
‘We met over 200 women (both young and old) at the camp… as well as children. Upon our arrival, we saw great excitement written all over their faces as they eagerly awaited us’.
According to Miss Ogon the Camp Director, Chief Etim Okon-Edet confessed to the fact that inmates of the IDP Camp had not received this kind of gesture particularly on such an auspicious day. The Camp Director was in no small measure grateful. His words,
‘this is the first time they receive this stretched arms of love from young people like us on a day such as this’.

Due to limited funding, Miss Ogon’s pet project could not donate food items to the IDPs as promised; albeit, it donated clothings such as wrappers and other ready-to-wear clothes of all sizes to both the old and the younger women.
The Comfort Literacy Intervention & Capacity Enhancement (CLICE) Foundation got supports from Isabella Ayuk’s Foundation, Queens Forum Nigeria, American Corner-Calabar and Enlightener’s Concepts Initiative, Christian Dental and Medical Students Association, Cross River chapter and Cross River Most Beautiful Girl Christy Anie.
While responding to questions from pressmen on why she is keen about humanitarian services, Miss Ogon said that there’s no competition in that department of life but love and purpose, ‘I believe in the world of humanitarianism unlike the business world, there is no word as “COMPETITION”;
‘We all work to make the world a better place. Hence our competition is replaced with LOVE and PURPOSE.’
