L-R: PAMOL’s death trap, Biase’s death trap
Efio-Ita Nyok|4 April 2017
There are two ever threatening death traps located at Calabar Municipality and Biase respectively.
The first is located at PAMOL Axis of Federal Highway, the only route that constitute an entrance into or exit out of Cross River State. Concerning this spot, one Akiba Ekpenyong has said, ”This spot had been there since 2012 and each day, it’s caving in… Please while approaching this spot forget “right”, be humble.”
The second is found at Biase LG. According to one Phillip Obin, ‘This deathtrap is found a few minutes drive from hometown of the Cross River state Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, where Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, also hails from. Same is the only road the Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade drives through to his hometown.’

The question is, who will fix these spots? That of PAMOL is less threatening than Biase’s. Do we wait for these traps to claim lives and inflict untold misery before we act? Can’t the Deputy Governor of the state influence the fixing of that road challenge?
Hmm! Cross River academic Governors!
