The Cross River Police command has given assurance that the kidnapped Cross River Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Gabriel Odu-Oji, will soon be released safely NegroidHaven can report authoritatively.
Mr Hafiz Inuwa, the State Commissioner of Police, gave the assurance in a chat with newsmen in Calabar.
According to Inuwa, a lot is been done by the police in synergy with other security agencies with a view to release Odu-Oji safely.
“We are still trailing and making efforts, not only in Cross River Command, but even at the Force Headquarters level because I am in touch with the IGP Intelligence Response.
“We are all working together in synergy with a view to ensure his quick release from captivity and by the grace of God; the Commissioner will be released soon.
“To the best of my knowledge, no ransome has been paid, if any ransome had been paid, he would have been released.
“As far as we are concerned, we are yet to make any contact with those responsible for his abduction and we are making serious effort to secure his release”, he assured.
It would be recalled that Odu-Oji was kidnapped in Mayne Avenue area of Calabar South on Sunday April 9.
The sum of N100, 000, 000 has been reportedly demanded for his release. However, some section of Cross Riverians have observed that indigenes and residents of the state seem to have inhumanely forgotten about his abduction. It's rather unfortunate that a public officer of such standing could be whisked away in broad day light and until now his whereabouts can't be ascertained. The present state government seem to be failing at all fronts.
