Meningitis/Lassa: NBM embarks on enlightenment campaign

Over 5000 members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa(NBM), Friday in calabar embarked on an enlightenment campaign to educate Nigerians on how to take preventive measures against the deadly ailment scourge of  meningitis and Lassa fever. 
In addition, the movement donated N500,000 naira to the state government to support the campaign against the deadly scourge.
Members of the movement walked around the city of calabar distributing enlightenment materials informing people on the dangers of the ailment and how they can prevent the scourge. 
In addition, to the road show on the scourge, the movement has been running advertisements on radio and television in the state to educate people on meningitis and Lassa since the commencement of its 39th annual convention and 40th year anniversary taking place in the historic city of calabar. 
The campaign which was organised in collaboration with Cross River state ministry of health had in attendance many officials of the state government. 
Members of the Pan African organisation, walked through the major streets in calabar in their colourful attire and enlightenment banners interacting with locals  which aroused the interest of many passer by and Cross Riverians in general. 

Many of whom expressed excitement on the campaign by the NBM. According to some of them who spoke, NBM initiative is a very positive development toward societal development. They also commended the movement for their other humanitarian activities they have embarked as part of the Convention noting that with all the positive things the group have done they have a understanding and very positive perception of the movement. 
The campaign which ended at the popular and historic  eleven/eleven junction where the National President of NBM,engineer Felix Kupa stated that the campaign is the contribution of the group to help government mitigate the danger of the scourge. He said the problem can only be adequately curb when the people are properly informed and enlighten on the scourge. To this end, he called on well meaning Nigerians and groups to support government efforts in this regards stressing that NBM is only living to its founding father’s goals for a better society for all man. 
Engineer Felix Kupa also promised that NBM will continue to do more to improve Nigeria. Responding an official of the Cross River government, Dr Helen Umoh commended the organisation for its support and assured the state looks forward to continue working with the movement.
