L-R: Failed section of Calabar-Odukpani road, cordon off sections billed for intervention

Within few days after graphic images of the deplorable state of the Calabar-Odukpani Highway emerged and went viral online remediation work seems to have commenced on that portion of the road NegroidHaven can report. The picture featured here testify to this development.
While responding to the inquiries of journalists about two days on the failed section of the road, the media aide, Mrs Clara Braide, to the board chair of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, has explained that NDDC isn’t a road construction commission but an interventionist agency.
According to her, ‘Federal Government recently awarded the road contract to Julius Berger starting from Tinapa junction all the way to Ikot Ekpene…. The first phase is 22km from Tinapa junction to Odukpani junction…The NDDC contract has been relocated to Ugep-Ikom axis of the highway.

‘It important that we bear in mind the fact that NDDC is an interventionist Agency and do not compete with the Federal Ministry of Works, state and local Governments… We are meant to complement and carry out emergency interventions where and when necessary.
