As the bye elections into designated offices in the Post Graduate Students Government of the University of Calabar (PGSG UNICAL) holds today 31st October at Open Pavilion of the University of Calabar, unofficial polls garnered by our correspondent suggests strongly that one 200 level Master of Arts in Philosophy students is most likely to win the much-coverted 'Office of President'.
One source is quoted as saying that, 'this election is actually between Comr Uket and no other as far as the office of the President is concerned'. In a meeting of no fewer than 60 post-graduate students of UNICAL, our correspondent learnt that a large percentage of the three major students activist blocs in PGSG UNICAL, namely, Akwa-Ibom PGSG, Ibo PGSG and Cross River PGSG are taking sides with Comr Uket. However, it's gleaned that the leadership of Cross River PGSG is not in tandem with Uket's aspirations; NegroidHaven is yet to confirm this. It's further learnt that majority of off-campus students are inclining towards Comr Uket as majority of PG students resident in the hostel are taking sides with another candidate.
Recall that a five man Post-Graduate Students Government Electoral Committee chaired by Comr Gregory Mbeh was constituted by members of Post-Graduate Students Government of the University of Calabar (UNICAL PGSG) on 17th October. The other members include, Comrades Raji Mustapha, Edwin Enyenin, Edwin Ejesi, and Sixtus Lebo. This electoral committee, which has a lifespan of 14 days, was constituted during a Congress which held at the open pavilion of UNICAL and administered by the Acting President Mkpouto Otong. http://www.negroidhaven.org/2017/10/unical-senate-sacks-pgsg-president.html?m=1
It will also be recalled that the Comr Williams-led PGSG EXCO, elected on 12th July and inaugurated on 2nd August 2017 http://www.negroidhaven.org/2017/08/unical-post-graduate-students-govt.html?m=1, was suspended by the Nwuyi Okori Sam-Uket-presided Senate on the 31st of August over an alleged N1.7 million scandal which a 3-man PGSG Senate Adhoc committee constituted indicted him http://www.negroidhaven.org/2017/09/breaking-unical-post-graduate-students.html?m=1
In the 12th July PGSG UNICAL elections, Uket came third thus:
Results for Office of President of UNICAL PGSG:
*William Bassey William 193
*Raymond Christian        86
*Igwut William            76
*Uket Abanda John 75. Out of 446 total votes casted.  http://www.negroidhaven.org/2017/07/breaking-bassey-william-emerges.html?m=1
Be that as it may, between 12PM and 2PM, it will be obvious who will be finally announced President of PGSG, UNICAL.
