Vice Chancellor Zana Itiunbe Akpagu of the prestigious University of Calabar (UNICAL), Calabar has been variously commended for replacing INEC-branded cap with UNICAL-branded cap last week in his official capacity as the Returning Officer in the just concluded governorship election in Anambra State where incumbent Governor Willie Obiano emerged as winner NegroidHaven can report.
Atlanta-based development consultant and social commentator, Mr Princewill Odidi, as well as a Nigerian academic, Mr Paul Ingiona Adie have said that Akpagu's decision amounted to a positive public relations for University of Calabar.
Explaining why he had to do that, Akpagu said that, 'I had to seize the opportunity to put our alma mater out there, in their faces'.
According to Odidi, 'Replacing INEC cap for UNICAL cap was very good public relations outing for Unical by VC Zana Akpagu. I endorse'. Whereas, in the words of Adie, 'This is a typical example of leadership driving brand awareness, leading by example, taking the good news out there about UNICAL.

'Moreso, he gauged the reach of the nation’s television stations, social media websites, blogs, video sharing sites that will beam and re-beam his momentous gesture. His strategic and timely decision has gone a long way to etch the UNICAL brand in the minds of all who came across the news item!

'He made the most out of his opportunity selflessly for his Alma Mater which he currently leads as Vice Chancellor. This is brand-inspiring!'
When American artist, director and producer, namely, Andy Warhol August (1928 – 1987) quipped thus : 'In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes', he may have been referring to VC Zana.
