The current appointment list starring us in the face shows how uninformed the federal government of today is, it also shows what height they could go to steal from our sovereign fund, with all the agencies of information and intelligence gathering at the disposal of the federal government they want rational minds like us to believe chipping in names of deceased persons into the appointment list was a mistake, far from it, it was an intentional act of corruption and is punishable under the law, like the president have always done he would in days to come either keep mute about the matter or better still look for a scapegoat in his office to blame, he never admits blame or fault. But ask me, did we vote those aides or him?
Did he give his consent to the appointment? He can't run from this issue, because which ever way he runs to have its own precautions, if he feigns ignorance, that would credit the outcry of the wife of the president who alleged the country is being run and governed by cabals and not the president. If he accepts it on the other hand, it would either discredit his alleged and aesthetic fight against corruption by implying the deadly virus called corruption lives in Aso rock.
The presidency has so many appointees, administrative staff and even consultants to ensure this national embarrassment never happened, with all the resources put into making this list and it still came out with so many issues, which has won for its self most controversial appointment list second only to that of ministerial appointment, I can authoritatively say, this is a monumental fraud, the abnormalities so far discovered could just be the ones noticed how about those which are yet to be identified.
This has given me more concern over the 2018 budget, who knows how many items must have found its way and smuggled into it? Which would amount to tens and hundreds of billions of naira. It also talks about how many falsified files, projects and the likes would have suffered similar fate. A government as big as the federal government should not find it self in such a place but sentiments, nepotism and greed has being the resulting factors.
This mess called appointment has raised questions in different quarters about the whole list. I hence call on the federal government to embark on damage control which they are already use to, as it has become a routine, the vice-president should spearhead the team to mop out every abnormality which could be contained in the appointment list, because we are saying no to ghost appointees, just as the civil service is trying to reduce to the barest minimum ghost workers, the government at the centre should also be seen supporting and fighting the menace as well. There should be screenings before appointments are made, we should ensure they are square pegs in square holes.
This is a call to reason, a call to patriotism and not any form of hate, it should not be regarded as a diatribe against any person, party, office or institution. As the writer is an apolitical columnist and a public affairs analyst void of any form of primordial sentiments, bias and hate, he is very professional and keeps sentiments out of his articles.
