Ogoja, the ancient provincial headquarters of the old Ogoja Province, now the headquarters of the Northern Senatorial District and headquarters of Ogoja Local Government Area, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, witnessed unprecedented hundred of thousands of persons of all strata in the society who turned up at the Ogoja Township Stadium to attend the reception/Endorsement activity put together by the people of the Northern Senatorial District to honour their illustrous son and Governor of the state, Senator Ben Ayade.
At the grand reception to honour Ayade were top government officials and appointees including the Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu, politicians from within and outside the northern senatorial district, representative of the district in the Senate, Senator Rose Oko, members representing the two Federal Constituencies in the House of Representatives, Hon, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe for Ogoja/Yala, and Hon. Legor Idagbor for Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency.
Members representing the six state constituencies in the House of Assembly, also attended the occasion and were led by Rt. Hon. Moses Ucheche, Obanliku. Others include Hon. Stephen Ukpekpen, Obudu, Hon.Ogana Lukpata, Yala 11, Hon. Regina Anyogo, Yala 1, Hon. Peter Odey, Ogoja, and Hon. Idagu Agaji, Bekwarra.
Other top members of the public and senior citizens who graced the occasion include the former military governor of Rivers state, an elder statesman, Brig. Gen. Anthony Ukpo (Rtd.), the very revered Paramount Ruler of Obudu and the longest serving natural ruler in the soil of Africa, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Uti J D AGBA who led his equally revered Paramount Rulers and other traditional rulers from the five northern senatorial district Local Government Areas, religious leaders, youths and women’s leaders and their groups, various support groups and dance groups from all the LGA's of the area, top business owners, students, farmers, among others.
The Central Senatorial District had earlier on Friday carried out the endorsement of Governor Ayade for 2019 at the Ikom township stadium, which was equally witnessed and attended by mammoth crowd.
