Comfort Literacy Intervention and Capacity Enhancement (CLICE) Foundation recently sensitised indigenes and residents of Ikang, a riverine community in Bakassi LGA of Cross River, on improved smoking kiln technology NegroidHaven can say.
The sensitisation event which took place at the palace of the clan head of Ikang was an intervention sensitization /livelihood enhancement workshop and visual demonstration of the use of the improved smoking kiln technology that uses charcoal which eradicates the emission of smoke.

There's also a demonstration of the health implication of using the traditional method as against the recent technology of smoking kiln comparatively analysing the two methods with so much emphasis on the advantages of the improved method over the traditional such as increased productivity and efficiency. The workshop carefully outlined the market opportunities that are available to them if the technology is adopted and put to maximum utility while applying best practices to meet international market demand.

After the sensitisation, the visibly overwhelmed traditional ruler encouraged the indigenes and residents to explore the potentials in terms of efficiency and productivity of the smoking kiln technology.

The livelihood enhancement workshop was facilitated by MADE fisheries intervention sensitisation.

Present at the workshop were the Director of Fisheries, Cross River State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, clan head of Ikang, Bakassi, team guide Miss Comfort Onyaga Ogon, Dr Owai Promise, Aaron Omosele, Miss Frank Edima the community guide and participants.
