Yesterday could be described as ‘Black Sunday’ as deadly crisis between indigenes and residents of Oku and Okundi took an interesting but regrettable turn in respect of the struggle over Borom Palm estate in Boki.

The incident has been described as a ‘festival of blood’ as angry Oku youths invaded Okundi over dispute on the palm estate reportedly killing 3 and razing down houses, burning cars of eminent personalities especially that of the clan head of Okundi, etc.

A source said that, ‘It was tension in Okundi today as Oku militants group attacked, setting clan heads house and car on fire within a few minutes in broad daylight.
‘The security operatives where too slow as everything happened so fast and left everyone in shock’.

One hasn’t heard of any significant security intervention in this crisis. Why hasn’t His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River made a significant statement in respect of this dispute in Boki?
I am calling on the State Security Adviser to the Governor of Cross River, Mr Jude Ngaji, to convene a press conference and tell Cross Riverians the truth about the crisis as well as what the state government is doing to contain the challenge.
