Calabar Rovers Football Club in its first leg in the Nigerian National League Professionals celebrated victory over Delta Force Football Club with a 3 – nil victory NegroidHaven can report authoritatively
The match which held at Brigadier U.J Esuene Sports Stadium over the weekend in Calabar, Cross River state capital, commenced 4PM with clement weather to its advantage with Rovers FC recording three goals to nil into the first half of the match as the players were seen heads high smiling while they walked back to the changing room.
The tempo changed for Rovers as the referee awarded a penalty kick against all odds twice to the Delta Force FC for offenses that were not clear to even the spectators.
A case of physical assault by a Delta Force player which nearly stirred up the atmosphere was recorded but didn't attract any warning. Rovers FC bagged two yellow card for minor offenses.
The officiating referee was rescued by a team of 10 policemen from being assaulted by the angry crowd who were already making advances to pounce on him.
'This is how we get treated always. Just imagine if this happens in our home, how will away match be, but we will handle this the official way'? the General Manager of Rovers FC said who obviously appeared disappointed by the development.
With this development, Rovers FC is toping the chart of NNLP table with three pints. There are high hopes for her induction into the NPFL, that is, Nigerian Professional Football League
