There are twelve reasons why primary school teachers under the aegis of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) are embarking on strike NegroidHaven has confirmed. This is contained in the press release tagged 'Bulletin 1' released by the teachers' Union on Thursday 28th June this year.
In the bulletin, we have: non payment of arrears, salary since 2016, non release of promotion letters, lack of promotion to secondary school teachers, lack of increment of salary to primary school teachers since January 2016, non payment of salary to four reinstated teachers, discrepancies in the payment of salary to primary school teachers, remittance of NUT Check off dues for the months of April and May 2017, non payment of imprests to heads of primary schools across the state, non release of monthly pay advice to public primary schools across the State, remittance of teachers' motorcycle loan deduction to supplier, remittance of deductions to banks, AMCON, Credit Direct, 1st Credit, by CRSG to forestall double deductions, reinstatement of teaching allowance to designated teachers who were seconded to boards and agencies to carry out education quality, assurance, and control schedules.
All these speak volumes for a state government with two professors at the helm as Governor(Ayade) and Deputy Governor (Esu). It also undermines the tag, 'Labour-friendly Governor'.

I am calling on the State Government through the Commissioner of Education, Mr Goddy Etta, to address this ugly development.
Meanwhile, I am questioning the rational in embarking on this strike at a point where our wards are almost done with terminal examinations, etc. Why are they going on strike when the wards are about to go on long vacation? Why wasn't this strike embarked on months before now? Hmmm!
I am calling on the leadership of NUT in Cross River State to be consistent with this industrial action not using as a ploy to foster selfish purposes as is the case with other labour organisations especially NLC in Cross River.
Education is our greatest legacy!
