The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Cross River State Chapter has embarked on an indefinite strike starting from Thursday 28 June, 2018 NegroidHaven has learnt.
According to one of the stakeholder I confronted who spoke on condition of anonymity said that teacher's in Cross River State(Primary Schools) are owed arrears of Salaries from 2016, some are owed 13 months and some 10 months and so on.
He further said that since Ayade came into power in 2015, there have been no increments of salaries, instead of increasing teacher's salaries as it is suppose to be yearly, they keep reducing their salaries on a monthly or yearly basis. The stakeholder further stated that since the beginning of this present administration, there have been no promotion of teachers.
Teachers were last promoted in 2011 and since then, promotion of teachers have remained stagnant. That for the past 2 to 3 year now, there have been massive reduction of teachers salaries without any defined reason for such actions.
