Members of the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly knelt in prayer to God, Wednesday, during a solemn assembly where Rev. Dr. Eshiet Isong-Uyo, the District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Calabar preached on the subject, 'Fear God'.
The solemn assembly which was a Valedictory Session was done in honour of late Mr Stephen Ukpukpen who until his death represented Obudu State Constituency at the 8th CRSHA.
Ukpukpen was confirmed dead on arrival (DOA) at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital on the 30th of May 2018 while undergoing an outdoor exercise.
The Speaker of the 8th Assembly who observed that this was when they would be having a Valedictory Session said that they felt the need to fortify their spiritual atmosphere while adding that they would take home the message of the man of God to heart,
'For the first time in the 7th and 8th Assembly, we will be doing a valedictory session in the assembly and I will want to ask that you continue to pray for us.
As we are going towards election period we feel our physical and spiritual atmosphere should be put under control.

'On our own, as a house, we have decided to dedicate every first Monday of the month to hold a solemn assembly every first Monday of the month for both staff and members the house". He said.

'We have witnessed what has happened, the dangers that looms our corners. Most of us are seekinve positions and we will have opponents; that is something to worry about.
'With the opposition in Cross River State growing fast, it might not be easy in 2019. They may be crisis, bloodshed, but we have to pray and watch just as the Evangelist said'.
Isong-Uyo who expressed shock at the news of Ukpukpen's death, encouraged the Honourable Members to shun sexual immorality, deceits, and try to live above board.
