The justification for the gubernatorial aspirations of the duo of Sen. John Owan-Enoh and Minister Usani Uguru Usani have been brought under profound scrutiny within the political fold  of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State NegroidHaven can report authoritatively.
This disposition was made known during the last weekend at the NUJ Press Centre during a press briefing by a group identified as Concerned APC Stakeholders in Cross River State Southern Senatorial District where they queried the justification of the guber aspirations of the Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs where they particularly asked: ‘The question is, should we in Southern Senatorial District keep quiet while this unjust aspiration goes on…?
This query is coming on the hills of the Office of the State Chairman of the APC in Cross River being occupied by Dr Matthew Achigbe from Obubra, and thus Central Cross River and the duo of Owan-Enoh and Usani respectively coming from Obubra and Yakurr all in Central Senatorial District. According to them, the governorship candidate cannot come from the same zone as the state chairman of the party.
They said, ‘the State Chairman of the Party (APC) is from the Central Senatorial District, Therefore the governorship should not come from the same district.’
The group led by Hon Aloysius Ene further resolved that the gubernatorial office be zoned to the south of the state, that they will support a Southern candidate for governor selected by the party seeing there are two aspirants already, that they will campaign vigorously in the south for this selection should the party selects an southerner, etc.
Ultimately, the group argued that the central senatorial district is overloaded, in respect of other senatorial districts, with more federal political appointees by the President. This may have explained why Mr Ene, the leader of the delegation stated thus: ‘This issue is not about zoning, it is about fairness. No party in Nigeria has assigned the Chairman of the party to a Senatorial District and has also zoned to the same Senatorial District office of governor.’
Owan-Enoh and Usani have both bought and submitted their gubernatorial nomination forms.
