Mr Emmanuel Ibeshi
Nyok|29 September 2018

The information peddled online and suggesting that Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, one of the strong contenders for the Office of Executive Governor of Cross River State under the auspices of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has had his clearance certificate to stand for PDP CRS primary initially and duly issued withdrawn and nullified is spurious NegroidHaven has confirmed.
This was contained in a reaction made by Mr Effiom Attoe, an close ally of the guber aspirant. According to social media thread made my Attoe 30 minutes ago, that online information is misleading, malicious and false. The four paragraphed social media thread disclosed that Ibeshi being a governorship aspirant couldn’t be screened by state screening committee of the PDP, but, by a geopolitical zone screening committee —he’s actually screened by the South South Zonal Screening Committee sitting in Port Harcourt.
However, the information added that when the zonal screening committee failed to clear Ibeshi on what is described as ‘flimsy grounds’, the gubernatorial aspirant proceeded to the PDP guber screening appeal committee which duly screened him and issued a certificate to that effect. This happened on Tuesday this week.
Implying that Ibeshi is still in the race as Gov Ben Ayade isn’t the sole guber aspirant of the PDP.
Attoe’s speech, ‘It has become very clear that the online publication that emerged early this morning stating that Hon Emmanuel Ibeshi and 4 other aspirants from other states have had their clearance certificates withdrawn, is false, malicious and misleading.
‘Hon Emmanuel Ibeshi was never supposed to be screened by a State screening committee as stated in the publication. He is contesting for Governorship and was screened by the South-South Zonal screening committee in Port Harcourt.
‘When he was not cleared by the Zonal screening committee on flimsy grounds, he proceeded to appear before the Gubernatorial Screening Appeal Committeee in Abuja on Tuesday the 25th and was duly cleared and issued a certificate. The publication talks about a special screening committee set up to screen people who were not screened by their state screening committees on the 27th and 28th. Hon Emmanuel Ibeshi is not and has nothing to do with the category of people listed in that publication.
‘The teeming supporters of Hon Emmanuel Ibeshi should therefore disregard the said online publication.’
