CALABAR —Pastor Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Okoro, the General Overseer of Bible Christian Crusaders Mission (BCCM), a Christian denomination with headquarters in Calabar, Cross River state capital, Monday, said that the Executive Governor of the State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, should stop working in other to allow the state to work NegroidHaven has garnered.
The charismatic Christian cleric made this disposition known yesterday during the first day of the 19th edition of the church’s three weeks-long annual popular programme —Festival of Fire, with this year’s theme being: ‘For Thine is the Kingdom’.
While addressing the mammoth crowd of congregants who gathered from all nooks and crannies of the state capital and harping on the state of the ship of state both at the federal and state governments level, directed that the ministries, department and agencies (MDAs) of the state government should work: and for him, for these MDAs to work, the state governor, Ayade has to stop working —making a satirical and veiled dent against the usual phrase woven around the now unpopular governor —’Ayade is working’. He encouraged other influential Christian cleric in the state to rise up to the occasion.
His words, ‘Let the ministries in Cross River State work, let the Cross River State House of Assembly work; Ayade should stop working so that other things will work in Cross River.
‘I want to challenge all the big men of God to stand up and talk : let them speak to these politicians because these Politicians don’t have the solution to our national problem. In fact, politicians are our problem.
The revered man of God while speaking on the topic, ‘The Miraculous Power of Prayer and Fasting’ derived his working text from the Holy Writ in the book of Isaiah chapter 58 verses 6 to 7 which reads thus: ‘Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?‘. According to him, the essence of the programme is to loose the band of wickedness.
Continuing, Pst Okoro added: ‘Let me announce to every politician, as they go to any witch doctor to get our votes come 2019 general elections, Jesus will frustrate them’.
Pst Okoro said that though the ship of state in respect of the activities of the trigger-happy, marauding Fulani herdsmen at both national and state levels inspires fear in the land, however, like in the Biblical days of the King of Israel, Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles chapter 20 verse 7), Nigerians should not allow their fears to paralyse them.
The cleric who argued that Nigeria belonged to everyone, said that come 2019, God will shame the enemies of Nigeria just like He disgraced the foes of Biblical Israel during the reign of King Jehoshaphat in the period of national emergency, as it were.
He tasked the congregants to be deliberate in their prayers during the length of the programme: ‘As you pray, don’t do empty blabbing, you are going to pray distinct prayers… During this fast, you will be very deliberate because your destiny and the destiny of this state is involved. Take this fasting seriously’.
The programme continues today.
