A STATEMENT ON THE NULLIFIED ELECTION OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE DONALD DUKE

Dear friends and colleagues, many of you would have heard about the decision of a High Court in Abuja that nullified the election of our Presidential candidate, Donald Duke, and ordered our Party, the  Social Democratic Party (SDP), to forward the name of Professor Jerry  Gana to INEC instead of Donald Duke. Indeed such a decision was given today in Abuja.

Anyone who has a copy of our Party Constitution will immediately know that this decision is highly questionable and does not conform with a simple interpretation of Article 15(3). This decision of the Abuja High Court amounts to reading what was never written, into our Constitution. This is why both the Party leadership and Governor Duke have decided that an appeal be filed immediately at the Court of Appeal, Abuja and pursued to its logical conclusion.

Therefore, all Party members must stay calm and continue to work hard for the success of all our Party candidates, including Governor Duke, at the coming polls. There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that this High Court decision is wrong and our only Presidential candidate, our dearly beloved Governor Donald Duke, will be restored to his rightful place as the Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party. Our victory is assured.

SDP!!! Progress!!! Progress!!! SDP!!!

An FCT High Court in Maitama sitting under the Lordship of Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf 15th December declared a former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, winner of the presidential primary election of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) which held on October 6, 2018.

Mr. Donald Duke, after grossing 812 votes, while Gana had 611 was declared winner of the election and thus its flag-bearer for next year’s general elections.

Nevertheless, the former information minister went to court, seeking that he be declared winner in line with the zoning and rotation formula of the party’s constitution.

Plans are on the way to appeal the judgement. Hmmm! Dis one na serious distraction for Duke oooo.
