The Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Police has refuted Premium Times publication stating that no fewer than five persons have been killed and houses razed in the ongoing communal clash in Biase between Urugbam and Abanwa NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

This refutation is contained in a 4th December press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo.

The press release which stated that only four persons where injured and some houses burnt further observed that the report is misleading, fake, mischievous and an attempt to instill fear in the people of the community. The release advises members of the public to always authenticate facts and figures before publishing same.

The release made on behalf of the Commissioner for Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa reads thus in part: 'the Cross River State Command wish to refute the Premier Times (sic) publication of 4th December 2018 on social media making the rounds that at least, five persons have been reported killed and several houses razed down in a communal clash that ensued between the people of Urugbam and Abanwa in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State… That the command wishes to state that it was only four (4) persons who were injured and some houses was also burned down'.
