PRESS STATEMENT
APPEAL COURT CALABAR ASERTS ITSELF, AFFIRMS OWAN ENOH & CO AS APC CANDIDATES
In a bold attempt to reassert itself on its previous order which was undermined by counsels to Pastor Usani Uguru Usani and the state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Appeal Court Calabar, today, February 27, 2019, categorically interpreted its stay of execution or maintenance of status quo to mean that the Sir John Ochala-led state exco of the All Progressives Congress whose candidates received the party's flags and were consequently listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stands recognized by law pending the determination of the matter.
The order delivered by the presiding judge, Justice Prof. Owoade, recognises all candidates whose names were submitted earlier to INEC by the National Working Committee of the party and affirms same as candidates of the APC in Cross River State. The judges also took turns to berate the lead counsel to Usani for trying to use the state INEC REC to undermine the powers of the appellate court in a brazen display of rascality.
By this judgement, Sen. John Owan Enoh remains the only standard bearer of the APC in the rescheduled March 9, 2019 governorship election. The order also covers all candidates of the Sir John Ochala-led state exco for both national and state houses of assembly.
We therefore call on the electorate in the state, our party faithful and supporters to remain steadfast in our collective resolve to rescue our state from the vice grip of poverty and underdevelopment orchestrated by four years of misrule by an incompetent, inefficient and clueless administration led by Gov. Ben Ayade of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Better days are indeed possible again in our dear state.
