Social commentator Simon Utsu has just entered a few remarks following the historic defeat of Britain’s heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua by Mexico’s Andy Ruiz.
For the Nigerian commentator, the destroyed boxing champion’s punches were ‘quite light’ for a boxer of his standing. Utsu traced the beginning of Joshua’s defeat to round three of the fight. For him, Joshua would have ended his fight then.
His words, ‘AJ should work on his punches, they’re quite light for a heavyweight that wants to remain on top for long.
‘He dropped Ruiz in round 3 only for Ruiz to get back up and drop him twice in same round. He lost it from thence. Ruiz later finished him off in round 7 in what has turned out to be one of heavyweight boxing’s biggest ever upsets.
‘This was meant to be a routine fight to warm AJ up for his potential fight with Wilder. Joshua should have ended the fight in round 3.
‘And another thing, everytime a non American boxer takes a fight to the United States, he’s not just fighting against his/her opponent but also the crowd and the judges.’
With this development, the much-fancied Joshua has been stripped of his four world titles including the WBA, WBO and IBF title belts. The far little Mexican has massively shocked the world to become the first heavyweight from his country to win the world heavyweight championship.
The fight just ended less than 30 minutes ago.
