The theme for the Carnival Calabar 2019 has been unveiled as at Friday. It is 'Humanity' NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.
His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River through his twitter handle @senatorbenayade informed the general public of this development.
Ayade who said he unveiled the theme earlier yesterday said the intellectual dimension of the biggest street party on the continent, Africa was more important than the theatricals. According to him the theme should bring us back to our core values as humans.
His words on his twitter reads thus, 'Earlier today, I unveiled the theme for the 2019 Carnival Calabar – "Humanity". I challenge all competing bands to establish the fact every human has rights to meaningful existence through their presentations.
'For me, the intellectual content of the Carnival should go beyond dancing and merriment and must be used to pass a strong message to make the world a better place.
'Clearly, the story should be stronger than the impulse of the Carnival, that is why we have gone with a theme that should reflect and bring us back to our core values as humans'.
