Calabar Royal Leo Lions Club president proposes to girlfriend during investiture ceremony

The Second President of the Calabar Royal Leo Lions Club, Saturday proposed to the Tamer of the same club during the Investiture Ceremony and Fund Raising Banquet of the 2nd President of the Club NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
The event which took place at the conference hall of Marian Hotel in Calabar witnessed Lion Martin Bassey asking the hands of fellow Lion Ima Ime in marriage. 
Bassey who took Ime unawares performed the unexpected shortly after his investiture. In fact, the humanitarian knelt down before his betrothed while he was called upon to make his acceptance speech. Glaringly surprised Ime couldn’t help but stretch out her fine, slender and little finger towards the kneeling gentleman accept his ring of engagement. This brief activity sent the conference hall filled with other Lions, family, friends and guests engulf with rapturous joy. 
In his acceptance speech, Lion Bassey said he will embark on a retinue of auspicious projects bothering on health, environment, food, water, education etc. 
His words, ‘It is with a heart full of appreciation and gratitude to God that I address you this evening. I am deeply honoured to stand here as the next Lion to lead my club. May I use this medium to thank all members of our great club for finding me fit to lead our club.

He popped the question : will you marry me? 

‘I humbly accept to serve as the second president and will focus on projects below: Diabetes, protecting the environment, relieving hunger, educational support to students, donating of basic amenities to IDPs, sinking of borehole in three communities. 
‘There is so much to be done as we will key into all district projects. I am sure you will support this great movement to impact service and serve humanity’, his statement reads in part. 
While giving her valedictory speech, the out going president of the Club Lion Mercy Asuquo appreciated distinguished Lions for the grand support she enjoyed during her tenure as president. While officially handing over the baton of leadership to her successor Bassey, Asuquo said that ‘As the baton of leadership is handed over to our dear Lion Bassey Martins,

‘I challenge all members of Calabar Royal Leo Lion Club to stir up commitments by putting service above self, let’s bring out the Heroes in us as knights of service and join hands to take this club to the next level, always keeping in mind our slogan ‘Together we can serve better’ this is the perfect will of God’. 
One of the highpoint of the ceremony and banquet was the acknowledgement of former Commissioner for Health Lion Dr Inyang Asibong as the First Vice President of the Club to work with Bassey. Six new members were officially decorated as Lions.
