The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Cross River State, Dr Betta Edu has rolled out strategy for the implementation of the state insurance scheme NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively. Dr Edu informed that the State Government CRSG will be introducing health lottery as an avenue to fund the scheme.
The erstwhile Director General of the state Primary Health Care disclosed this on Monday in Calabar the state capital city where she declared that the policy anticipates enrolling one million Nigerians resident and indigenous to Cross River into the insurance scheme within three months.
Dr Edu noted that this implementation strategy is part of her office's initiative to actualise the agenda of the state governor to make millionaires in the state. According to her 'If you were at the EXCO Chambers where the Governor was setting his agenda for the year, you heard him clearly say I want to make millionaires from Cross River State for the Office of the Commissioner, and we will help him in the health sector make those millionaires.
'First we want to enroll one million Cross Riverians under AyadeCare. For us we are putting an incentive out there. If we can have someone register ten people for one full year, you qualify for a one million Naira raffle draw every month. So every month, one Cross Riverian will win one million Naira just from the AyadeCare. For us what we are looking at a situation where every body will go all out.'
Dr Edu said everyone must be involved beginning from the Executive Governor of the state down to the common person in the state. She noted that volunteerism will be an avenue via which the massive enrolment will take place across the State. The registration is billed to last fir three months after which accessment of the health facility will commence.
Dr Edu who was quite optimistic about the implementation strategy for the state health insurance policy said that the priorities of the State Government for the health is accessibility, efficiency of system, accountabilty of human and material resources, risk bearing and reducing catastrophic health occurrence through AyadeCare and quality of health care delivered.
