COVID-19: CAN tasks churches in C/River to ‘temporarily suspend corporate worship’

The Christian Association of Nigeria has tasked Christian centres of worship in Cross River State to adhere to the State Government’s directive on the ban on corporate worship as part of its social distancing policy to combat the ravaging influence of the Covid-19 pandemic NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
CAN who requested the state government to make available hand sanitisers, temperature test apparatuses and other medical equipments said that, 'CAN calls on all Christian Churches in the state to respect and strictly adhere to the directives of the government of Cross River State in terms of temporary suspension of corporate worship until it pleases the Lord to avert this pandemic'. CAN encouraged churches to use 'alternative means of worship'.
This directive was contained in a 25th March press release co-signed by the state Chairman and Secretary of the apex Christian religious organisation, Most Reverend (Amb.) Okon B. Ekpenyong and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel O. Duke (Ph.D).
