Abuja–Former Lagos State governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to grooming the next generation of leaders in Nigeria NEGROIDHAVEN can say.
Adediran made the remarks during a courtesy visit to The Progressive Institute (TPI), the training and policy think-tank arm of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday in Abuja. He was received by the Director General of TPI, Dr. Lanre Adebayo.
Reflecting on his recent defection to the APC, Jandor said his private meeting with President Tinubu before the move reassured him about the President’s long-term vision.
“Reflecting on my meeting with President Tinubu prior to my defection, where the President explicitly expressed his readiness to ensure a smooth transition of leadership to the next generation, I’m proud to be part of this transitional moment,” Adediran said.
Accompanied by his business partner Malam Ahmed Buhari, legal expert Adu Oyinlade, and Media Adviser Pastor Gbenga Ogunleye, Adediran called on APC members to support the President’s efforts, describing Tinubu’s leadership recruitment approach as vital to the country’s future.
“There’s nothing those of us coming behind him have to do now than to support him to ensure a smooth transition,” he added.
The politician also lauded the APC for its internal cohesion, calling it the most stable political party in Nigeria.
“Our decision to come back to the family is not far-fetched. Of all political parties in Nigeria today, the only one with a semblance of stability is the APC,” he said.
During the visit, Jandor praised the TPI initiative spearheaded by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, describing it as a timely institution focused on leadership recruitment.
“The establishment of this institute is speaking directly to the passing of the baton. The biggest problem Nigeria faces today is not our economic structure—it’s leadership. President Tinubu is building a structure that addresses this.”
In his remarks, Dr. Adebayo described Adediran as a “brilliant brand” and congratulated him on joining the APC. He said TPI would continue to support the party with research and strategy in governance, party management, and policy development.
“TPI is working on evolving a clear political ideology for the APC and contributing to leadership development and public policy,” Adebayo said.
He also echoed Adediran’s optimism, noting that younger Nigerians have reasons to hope, given the calibre of leadership in the APC under Tinubu and Ganduje.
