Archibong Bassey Emerges Chair as NUJ Cross River Council Elects New Executive Committee

Calabar —The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in Cross River state on Wednesday elected a new executive committee (EXCO) to pilot her day-to-day affairs. Archibong Bassey, a staff member of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA was elected chair of the state council NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

Elected into the office of Vice Chair is Sunny Inah, Mike Abang elected into the office of secretary, Treasurer now occupied by Achiane Adams, Auditor has Benedictine Anam as occupant and Assistant Secretary is Kingsley Agim. Nobody was elected into the office of Financial Secretary.

The occasion took place during the 2025 Triennial Delegates Conference where the six officers were elected unopposed, first in the history of the state council.

The Archibong Bassey-led council of the NUJ in Cross River has a three years tenure which will last until 2028.

In his remarks, the national president of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, represented by the South South zonal vice president charged the new EXCO to prioritise taking the Cross River council from a temporary building site to a permanent building for a state secretariat.
