Calabar — Special Adviser on Events Management to the Governor of Cross River state, Effiong Ekpenyong, has pledged to consolidate the achievements of the past two years while innovating to align the state’s cultural economy with global trends NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
Ekpenyong, who also serves as Chairman of the Carnival Calabar and Festival Committee, stated this on Monday in a press release to mark his second year in office.
Reflecting on his stewardship, he said the period had been both “challenging and rewarding,” with opportunities to use events management as a tool for unity, empowerment, and cultural projection.
“As I reflect on these two years, I am reminded that our work is far from done. The task ahead is to consolidate on the gains already made, innovate in the face of global trends, and deepen the role of events and festivals in fostering unity, economic empowerment, and community development,” he declared.
Ekpenyong assured Cross Riverians of his renewed commitment to serve with passion, creativity, and integrity. He added that cultural events such as the Carnival Calabar would remain vital platforms for tourism promotion and the socio-economic advancement of the state.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Bassey Otu for his leadership and to the First Lady, Bishop Eyoawan Itam Bassey Otu, for her encouragement, while also acknowledging the support of colleagues, stakeholders, and the creative industry.
According to him, the next phase of his service would focus on strengthening partnerships, expanding opportunities for the youth, and positioning Cross River as a leader in cultural excellence and tourism beyond Nigeria.
