Echeng Edoki Congratulates Gov Otu on Honourary Doctorate, Sun Man of the Year Award

Calabar – A member of the Cross River State Planning and Development Control Team, Surv. Dr. Edoki Echeng Isaac, MNIS, has congratulated the Governor of Cross River state, Bassey Otu, on his conferment with an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Humanities) by Modibbo Adama University, Yola, as well as his recognition as The Sun Newspaper Man of the Year NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered.

Dr. Edoki, an alumnus of the institution formerly known as Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTYOLA), described the honorary degree as a source of pride not only to Cross River but also to graduates of the university, noting that the honour reflects the Governor’s growing national stature and people-centred leadership.

He commended Modibbo Adama University for what he described as a well-considered decision, stating that Governor Otu’s governance philosophy, anchored on inclusion, compassion, and sustainable development, aligns with the values of service and social responsibility promoted by the institution.

According to Dr. Edoki, the simultaneous recognition by a reputable academic institution and a national newspaper underscores the broad acceptance of Governor Otu’s leadership style and policy direction, which continue to attract commendation beyond the borders of Cross River.

“The conferment of the Doctor of Humanities by my alma mater, Modibbo Adama University, Yola, is particularly significant to me,” he said. “It affirms that Governor Otu’s impact is being felt and acknowledged across regions, institutions, and sectors.”

Dr. Edoki further noted that the Governor’s emergence as The Sun Man of the Year serves as validation of his administration’s people-first agenda and his commitment to restoring confidence in public leadership through integrity and purposeful governance.

He described the dual honours as a morale booster for public servants and professionals in the state, adding that they reinforce the belief that dedication to service and principled leadership will always receive due recognition.
